It’s a simple fact of an architect’s life that when you’re working in the capital, space will always be a premium. This calls for smart solutions. And this project for Lookers PLC meant we had to totally rethink a retail environment – fitting it harmoniously within a new-build residential tower block.
Our solution – which also had to meet VW’s stringent corporate identity guidelines – was to position the showroom on the ground floor, with customer parking, workshop and the used car display on the first floor with a workshop along with vehicle compound and staff facilities on the second floor. We also added a new coffee shop on the street scene to help engage walk-by interest and increase footfall.
